JAMMU, Nov 16: The National Service Scheme, Campus Units, University of Jammu (JU) in collaboration with National Institute of Electronic and Information Technology (NIELIT) today organized a one day workshop on Information Security Awareness: its Relevance and Precaution.
The main objective of the workshop was to make students aware about the use, security and threats of the Information Technology in our daily life.
There were three sessions conducted in the workshop. In his welcome address, Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, NSS Campus Units, introduced the theme of workshop.
The first session was conducted by DS Oberoi, Scientist- E, NIELIT, on Introduction to Information Security. The second session was conducted by SK Sharma, Assistant Director, Technical, NIELIT, on “Various Aspects of Using Internet” while the third session was conducted by Rajneesh Raina, Deputy Director, NIELIT, on “Security of Wireless Network.”
JK Sharma, Director, Colleges Development Council, JU, was the chief guest in the valedictory session of the workshop. In his address, JK Sharma stressed on the fact that Prime Minister Modi envisions transforming our nation and creating opportunities for all citizens by harnessing digital technologies. “His vision is to empower every citizen with access to digital services, knowledge and information. These efforts will come up with policies and best practices from around the world to make this vision of a digital India a reality”, he added.
Dr Meghna Dhar, Programme Officer, NSS and Coordinator of the workshop, conducted the proceedings of the workshop. Dr Anupama Vohra, Associate Dean, Department of Students Welfare, Dr Savita Nayyar and Dr Hema Gandotra helped in the conduct of the workshop. About 250 students participated in the workshop.
The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Anju Thappa, Programme Officer, NSS.
