JAMMU, Feb 28: The three day workshop on “Linguistics: Generating Awareness About Different Aspects of Language” organized by the Department of Linguistics and Literature, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu (CUJ), concluded here today.
The theme of the workshop was to provide an understanding and awareness of Linguistics as an academic discipline with a specific focus on the preservation and promotion of the locally spoken languages of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu was the Chief Guest of the event while Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Naveen Anand was the Guest of Honor accompanied by Principal, M.A.M College, Prof. GS. Rakwal.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Jatinder Khajuria addressed the audience and encouraged the Faculty of Linguistics Department to keep organizing similar events related to different aspects of language.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Indu Sharma, Faculty, Department of English, School of Humanities & Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu
The main highlight of these sessions was the Q&A session which acquainted the students with the pivotal platform of learning, hence building a community of language advocates. A separate session aimed at providing hands-on training and demonstration by Resource Persons was held for the students of Department of Linguistics and Literature.
Dr. Ravi Parihar and Dr. Farooq Mir, Faculty, Department of Linguistics and Literature managed the discipline while the hospitality of the event was managed by Dr. Sujata and Dr. Surita, Faculty, Department of English and the Student Organizing Committee of Linguistics and Literature, Cluster University of Jammu.
