BARAMULLA, Dec 19: A two-day workshop on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), J&K.
The workshop aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the NDPS Act’s provisions, enforcement mechanisms, and practical applications.
The event was inaugurated by Maqsood-Ul-Zaman, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for North Kashmir Range, who addressed the gathering of police officers, Government officials, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and prosecuting officers from across the region.
The workshop was also broadcast via video conferencing to reach outstation Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from the North Kashmir Range.
In his address, DIG NKR emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling drug abuse, trafficking and related crimes.
He stated that the workshop provides a crucial platform for experts and participants to discuss solutions, share experiences and strategize on how to combat the growing drug crisis.
Through interactive discussions and case studies, the workshop aimed to equip attendees with the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle drug-related issues effectively.
DIG NKR also stressed the significance of partnerships between law enforcement, legal practitioners, policy makers, and social workers in addressing the social and human costs of drug abuse.
He encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions, believing that diverse thoughts and experiences would contribute to the success of the training program.
The DIG NKR Maqsood-Ul-Zaman extended his gratitude to the distinguished speakers from the NCB and all participants for their dedication to the fight against narcotics abuse and trafficking.
