JAMMU, Jan 3: Seven-day Professional Development Workshop on Design, Develop & Deliver MOOCs is being organized by School of Education, Central University of Jammu under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching.
The inaugural session of the workshop today was graced by CUJ Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ashok Aima while Prof K Srinivas, HOD ICT, NIPEA, New Delhi, was the key note speaker of all the four technical sessions on first day.
In his inaugural address, Prof Ashok Aima stressed upon the collaborative and cooperative strategies to be inculcated by in service and pre service teachers so that a conducive learning environment may be created in the classroom. He also called upon the participants to integrate the learning experiences of the workshop in their day to day teaching learning interactions.
Earlier, Dr J N Baliya, center coordinator, HOD, Department of Educational Studies, spoke in detail about the objectives, strategies and expected outcomes of the workshop.
The key note speaker made the participants of the workshop aware about the MOOC ecosystem and video content development for making the online courses more qualitative in nature along with quantitative. In his highly interactive mode, he took up four sessions namely: Digital initiatives of GOI in Higher Education, Ecosystem & Four Quadrant Pedagogical Approach and Video Content Development. The School of Education (SOE) forms the main backbone of the integrated development of teachers. The School of Education under PMMMNMTT intends to strengthen the holistic vision of teacher education by building a community of excellent teacher educators rooted in tradition and equipped for the future.
The Central University of Jammu has been granted Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) for organizing various academic activities by School of Education. The SOE endeavors to provide programmes of excellence in the pre-service and in-service education of prospective and practicing teachers through teaching and learning, research, consultancy, publication and community services. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are gaining attraction all over the world to provide unlimited participation and open access to quality education via web.
The faculty members of the Department of Educational Studies who attended the programme, including Dr Ritu Bakshi, Dr Kiran, Dr Aman and Dr Asit.
