Workshop on RTI Act organized

SRINAGAR, Aug 9: A workshop on J&K Right to Information Act (RTI) was organized by Jammu Kashmir RTI Movement in association with Fallah Foundation here today.
The aim of the workshop was to train RTI activists/trainers who had come from various districts of Valley.
Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat gave a detailed lecture on Jammu & Kashmir RTI Act (JK RTI Act 2009). He discussed all the sections in detail and urged upon the trainers/activists to impart the RTI training in their respective areas so that people get directly benefitted.
Earlier, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, a noted RTI activist, in his welcome address stressed upon the participants to take advantage of the programme so that they can guide the people particularly the people belonging to disadvantaged communities.
Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, president, Bank Officers Association, gave a presentation on various landmark judgments of High Courts, SICs vis-a-vis RTI Act.
After the programme was over there was an interactive session wherein the participants posed various questions to the resource persons.
Rasikh Rasool, GH Khan and Mohammad Ramzan Khan, a RTI activist from Kupwara also spoke on the occasion.
Umar Javaid, Aadil Rasool and Bilal Bhagat coordinated the programme. RTI Movement has decided to organize a follow-up programme after one month.
