JAMMU, Nov 27: A one-day workshop to raise awareness about key health issues affecting women organized by Women Development Cell of SPPND Government Degree College, Samba was held here today.
The event featured eminent speakers from FICCI FLO JKL, who provided valuable insights on Dental Hygiene, PCOD, Menstrual Hygiene and Holistic Development.
Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL, provided an introduction to the organization’s objectives and stressed the need to address women’s health issues effectively
In her address, Assoc. Prof. Sarabpreet Kour, Convener of the Women Development Cell emphasized the importance of health awareness in empowering women and highlighted the significance of the topics selected for discussion.
Kanupriya Garg, a multifaceted health expert, shared her expertise on holistic health and PCOD management, addressing the unique challenges faced by teenage girls.
Her session was followed by Ritu Ahal’s engaging talk on dental health, where she elaborated on oral hygiene and common dental problems.
Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri, highlighted the critical role of such initiatives in addressing the unique health challenges faced by young women, particularly those from border areas and in equipping them with knowledge and resources to lead healthier, more empowered lives.
Rajani Sehgal, Former Jail Superintendent, concluded the workshop with an insightful discussion on menstrual hygiene.
The proceedings of the event were coordinated by Dr. Parvani Rekhi, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Anupama Sharma, Head of the Hindi Department.
Varuna Anand, former Chair, FICCI FLO and a dynamic entrepreneur and Sona Mehta, Treasurer FICCI FLO also attended the workshop.
