Workshop organised by Yakjah concludes

JAMMU, July 1: A five-day Product Development workshop organised for 18 women artisans of Jammu and Kashmir concluded here today.
The workshop was part of a five year ‘Culture and Conflict’ project being implemented by Yakjah Reconciliation and Development Network, a non -profit social innovation for peace building.
The aim behind organising the workshop was to impart training to the women artisans of Jammu and Kashmir for developing innovative products to reach different kinds of markets for their livelihood.
Dr. Arun Bangotra inaugurated the workshop.
In his opening remarks he said that women have the ability to become successful entrepreneurs.
The Chief Guest, Leena Padha, Director Skill Mission, in her speech appreciated the efforts of Yakjah and the artisans.
Both Dr. Arun Bangotra and Leena Padha ensured full support of their institutions in advancing the agenda of sustainable livelihood and capacity building of the artisans.
Ashima Kaul, project lead in India shared the concept behind the project.
She said that women across cultures have cultural knowledge, skills, and the power of resilience to transform complex and multidimensional development challenges in favor of the well-being of their communities, families, and self.
The workshop concluded with a certificate ceremony.
The 18 women artisans were from Basholi, Jammu, Jagti camp of Kashmiri Pandits, Srinagar and Ganderbal in Kashmir.
Among others, who attended the workshop on concluding day included, Principal Government Polytechnic College, Dr. Renu Nanda, Head of Department of Education, University of Jammu, Prof. Archana Kaul, Principal, Government Degree College, Ramban, Khalid Sheikh, representative of the Skill Mission, Akshay Kumar Sharma, Anamika Bharti and Urzeeba Bhat.
