JAMMU, July 14: A three day workshop for professional development of teachers was conducted at Model Academy.
Prof Dr B L Handoo, a renowned educationist and Master Trainer from Indira Educational Consultancy Services, Noida, was the resource person for the workshop.
In his welcome address, Pramod Srivastava, Principal Model Academy highlighted the achievements of Dr Handoo who has vast experience of over 40 years in the field of education, teaching, training, mentoring, innovating and management.
Rupa Gupta, Management Representative, Usha Gadoo, vice Principal, Academic Managers and Conveners of various committees also attended the workshop.
In his message, Dr Adit Gupta, Director MIER, said that such workshops help in empowering the teachers to address the needs of the learners and enhance their individuality, curiosity and creativity.
Diagnosing reasons for poor school performance, effective communications skills, responsive classrooms, activities for classroom teaching, emotional intelligence and the new CBSE examination pattern were the focus areas of the workshop.
The second day of the workshop also included presentation by B Ed Special Education Department on Inclusive Education.
The session was attended by Dr Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER. She talked about the four C’s that the teachers should focus on while dealing with students i.e. Consciousness, Concern, Commitment and Competency.
Dr Handoo enunciated certain principles of responsive classrooms. He shared the seven principles that make the classroom environment conducive for teaching and learning.
Formal vote of thanks was presented by Rupa Gupta, Management Representative.
