Workshop on women rights organized at JU

JAMMU, July 18: In order to augment the awareness regarding women rights, Law Department today held a workshop on “Understanding various tools and techniques employed by a research while interacting with the women folk in rural areas”.
Devika Ranjan from Georgetown University, USA, was the  Resource Person  and she   shared her experiences while working in one of the badly affected border village of the Samba district. She used theatre as a tool in gauging the problems being faced by the women, who made to come up with self-sustaining solutions.
Prof  Arvind Jasrotia, Head/Director Childline, Department of Law, stressed that women of the society and children are badly affected in these rural and border villages and community can play a pivotal role in addressing these issues.
The workshop ended with the solemn pledge to eliminate all forms of violence against women and make the rights declared in international instruments and constitution meaningful.
