JAMMU, Apr 22: World Earth Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal.
To observe the World Earth Day, a programme was organized in Government Ayurvedic Hospital here today. Niraj Kumar Director Indian Systems of Medicine J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. Niraj Kumar initiated plantation drive by planting sapling of Putra Jivak in the premises. He also planted the saplings of medicinal plants such as Arjun, Bilv, Karanj, Amla etc.
Among others present were Dr Taran Singh Medical Superintendent Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu, Dr Rakesh Raina OSD Directorate of ISM, Dr Saroj Sharma ADMO Jammu, Dr Sujata Sathu Assistant Director ISM, Dr Narinder Sharma Nodal Officer GAMC, Jammu, doctors from GAMC and non gazetted employees from district Jammu.
Lords Inn-A unit of Grand Plaza Hotel Private Limited organized a CSR activity to create awareness on Earth Day.The staff of the hotel cleaned the area in and around Bawe Temple and spread the message of adopting environmental friendly practices in daily lives, amongst the devotees and the other locals gathered around the area.
“As a part of our company wide eco-friendly and service oriented commitment, we are always looking for ways to support Mother Earth, as well as our local communities through local partnerships and outreach programmes”, said Stephen Ganon General Manager, Lords Inn Hotel.
CII organized legal awareness session on Human Rights and Juvenile Justice in Village Pancheri of District Udhampur. Yasmeen, Member Juvenile Justice Board was the key speaker and addressed the audience with knowledge of their human rights and informed them about juvenile issues. Baldev Singh, Sarpanch of the village was also present on the occasion
Alongside, CII along with Nexa Jammu celebrated World Earth Day in Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Mand by planting saplings in the premises of the school. CR Sharma, Principal of the institution, Kashif Javaid, Ranger, Ramnagar and many others were present on the occasion.
On the occasion of World Earth Day, Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) Leh planted a number of saplings brought from Dargo village of Shaam region. This plantation drive was carried out in the Mahabodhi campus in collaboration of Global Interfaith Wash Alliance Ladakh Chapter and Save the Himalaya Foundation. This drive was largely participated by the students of Mahabodhi Residential School and the grandparents of Mahabodhi Old Age Home. Ven Sanghasena Founder of MMIC Leh was also present on the occasion.
To mark the occasion, the enthusiastic students of Mahabodhi presented a mind-blowing cultural program which was witnessed by a galaxy of foreign guests, local guests, volunteers, staff members, grandparents of Mahabodhi and the students.
