JAMMU, Mar 4: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Centre celebrated World Engineering Day today at Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, Jammu by holding a seminar on theme “Engineering for a healthy planet: Celebrating the UNESCO Engineering Report”.
The seminar was attended by a large number of engineers from various departments, organizations and senior engineers.
Hem Raj, Regional Officer, NHAI (J&K), Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. At the outset, Dr Sanjay Khar, Chairman, IEI, Jammu Centre presented the welcome address.
Six speakers among the senior engineers namely, PK Nanda, BL Rawal, Vinod Kumar, Ranjeev Sawhney, Mir Muneer Hussain and Akash Dusgotra, presented their papers on the theme. The speakers touched various issues which are imperative for the engineers, planners, policy makers and public at large to adopt for sustenance of technological developments in all spheres of life without depletion of natural resources available.
The chief guest lauded the efforts of keynotes speakers in enlightening the audience and complimented the Committee of Jammu local centre for celebrating Second World Engineering Day in a befitting manner.
CP Sharma, honorary secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar and presented the vote of thanks to the august gathering and media.
Meanwhile, Institution of Engineers, J&K State Centre Srinagar organised a webinar to mark World Engineering Day on the same theme as mentioned above. It was inaugurated by Bashir Ahmed Dar, Secretary Technical, Power Development Department, Govt of J&K.
The participants were welcomed by Aamir Ali, Chairman Institution of Engineers. The programme was conducted by M Sultana Waheed Deva. The speakers include, Dr Amir Ali Khan, Faculty National Institute of Disaster Management GOI, Shoukat Jeelani- CE R&B Kashmir, Rashid Ahmed Dar- CE Mech Engg Kashmir and Iftikhar Ahmed Kakroo, CE Irri & FC Kashmir.
