World Health Day observed across J&K

JAMMU, Apr 7: Different organizations here today observed World Health Day and organized many programmes in this regard.
On the occasion of World Health Day 2021, a visit to Old Age Home, Amphalla was organized by NCC Senior Wing Cadets of GGM Science College, Jammu under the guidance of Principal of the College, Dr. Ravender Tickoo and under the supervision of Associate NCC Officer, Dr. (Capt.) Anjana Sharma, Department of Computer Science. After this the NCC cadets visited old age home Ambphalla and interacted with the inmates there.
On World Health Day, 2 J&K Girls Bn, NCC, GCW Parade organized a medical awareness camp inside the college campus in which an awareness lecture was delivered to the NCC cadets and staff of the college on ‘How and why to protect ourselves?’ NCC cadets also distributed free immunity medicine to staff and other students and after this visited orphanage and distributed fruits and food to inmates there.
Under ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ initiative NSS unit of GDC Marh organized lectures on ‘World Health Day’ and ‘Ambedkar as a Social Reformer’. The programme was held under the supervision of Principal, Prof. Aekta Gupta and floral tributes were paid to Dr. B.R Ambedkar.
Govt Degree College Nagrota organized a webinar on the occasion of ‘World Health Day’. Prof. Dinesh Singh welcomed the audience and threw light on various issues related to maintaining a healthier life assessing better health services. Principal, Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of good health.
GDC Ukhral in collaboration with RR-12th Bn celebrated World Health Day. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College, Dr. Ranvijay Singh stressed on the need to develop mental health in addition to that of physical one. Subedar Bharat Singh of RR 12th Battalion (Ukhral) highlighted the looming dangers of COVID-19 and the ways of protection from the deadly disease.
GDC Billawar celebrated World Health Day in which series of activities were conducted like lecture by a team of Sub-District Hospital, Billawar, essay writing, poster making and quiz competition. All these activities were conducted on the theme of ‘Building a Fairer, Healthier World for Everyone.’ In lecture hour session, Dr. Ganga Ram Kundal, Dr. Surinder Kumar, Dr. Neelam Kiranjit Kour, Dr. Nidhi Verma focused on various health issues.
On World Health Day, Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, near Chandigarh in association with Fortis Hospital, Mohali organized a webinar on ‘Building a Fairer, Healthier World’. Dr. Sonia Gandhi, Head, Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, Fortis Hospital interacted with the faculty members & Aryans students and spoke on ‘Good Nutrition: Need of the Hour’. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.
World Health Day observed today at Super Speciality Hospital Jammu wherein all staff including doctors, nurses and other staff and students of Bee Enn College of Nursing participated. Students presented speeches and made posters on the occasion. The theme of this year’s World Health Day is ‘Building a Fairer, Healthier World.’ Dr Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent was the chief guest.
Department of Hospital Administration, SKIMS celebrated ‘World Health Day’ with focus on this year’s theme ‘Building a Fairer, Healthier World’. Director SKIMS, Dr A.G Ahangar was the chief guest and speaking on the occasion he said that steep rise in COVID cases is a cause of concern. He urged for vaccination as the best tool to fight the ongoing pandemic.
On World Health Day, Departments of Microbiology and Community Medicine of GMC Kathua organized poster making competition under the patronage of the College Principal, Dr Anjali Nadir Bhat. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Natasha enlightened the students on the theme ‘Building a Fairer, Healthier World’.
On World Health Day, BMO Kandi, Dr. Iqbal Malik with other health officials under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shamim Bhatti organized a function to ensure that everyone, everywhere realizes their right to good health.
On World Health Day, CPI (M) leader, Mohd Yousuf Tarigami has called for building a fairer and healthier world where everyone has living and working conditions conducive to good health. He said, as World Health Day 2021 is being observed during COVID 19 pandemic, there is a need to take action to eliminate health inequities, as part of a year-long global campaign to bring people together to build a fairer, healthier world.
On the occasion of World Health day, senior BJP leader, Shailender Vaid has appealed to all the central government employees above 45 to get vaccinated for COVID 19 as number of COVID cases are increasing across J&K.
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, under the aegis of J&K, Legal Services Authority observed World Health Day at District Court Complex Mominabad. The programme was held under the guidance of Chairman DLSA/Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Mohd Akram Chowdhary with focus on current year’s theme ‘Building a Fairer & Healthier World’. Highlighting importance of the day, Secretary DLSA Srinagar, Noor Mohd Mir said, a person can survive without excess money but cannot survive without good health.
