World Human Rights Day observed with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Dec 10: World Human Rights Day was observed across Jammu province with enthusiasm.
To commemorate International Human Rights Day, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Doda organised a seminar on “Human Rights and State Functions” at Town Hall Doda. In the seminar prominent speakers who spoke on various facets of Human Rights and redressal mechanism, were Tahir Khurshid Raina, Additional District and Sessions Judge Doda, Shyam Vinod Meena, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Advocate Imtiaz Ahmed Mir, President Bar Association Doda, Mohammad Sharief Chouhan SSP Doda, ZA Hashmi, Principal Government Degree College Doda, MA Sheikh DySP HQ Doda, Advocate Asim Hashmi and a student from Degree College Doda. Earlier, the programme commenced with introductory and welcome address by Rajeev Gupta, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Doda. Tabraiz Ahmed Qazi, District Mobile Magistrate Doda conducted the proceedings. Vote of thanks was presented by Naveen Jamwal Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Doda.
On the eve of World Human Rights Day, the students of The Law School, both from BA LL.B (5Years) stream and students of PG Diploma course in ‘Human Rights and Duties Education’ visited District Jail, Ambphalla, Jammu. The students interacted with the inmates and got an insight into the living conditions of the under trials and convicts. The students further sensitized the inmates about their human rights in the prison. The interaction was supervised by the Jail Superintendent, Harish Kotwal. The students were accompanied by the teachers Dr Monika Narang, Dr Subha Vats, Dr Mrinalini Atrey and Dr Renu Jamwal.
Two day workshop on ‘the Human Rights’ organized by NSS Wing of Government MAM College in collaboration with Association for Democratic Rights (ADR) to observe ‘Human Rights Day’ concluded today. The workshop was attended by Balvinder Singh, Convener ADR, Prof Kalwant Singh from Department of Law University of Jammu, Dr VK Sharma and Dr Anita Soodan, Principal of the College, who expressed their views on various topics. A symposium was organised in Government Degree College Sarh Bagga Mahore on the occasion of 64th World Human Rights Day. Abdul Hamid Qazi was the guest of honour and programme was presided over by Prof Ashraf Nawaz. Students shared their views on the topic “Human Rights 365 and Zaffar Iqbal, Ishrat Fatima and Tasleema emerged winners. The programme was co-ordinated by Shapia Shameem Bhatti, lecturer in Education and compared by Haseena Akhtar Qazi. The vote of thanks was presented by Ishrat Fatima.
To observe the World Human Rights Day, a seminar was organized in Government College of Education, in which 12 speakers participated on the topic “Relevance of Human Rights”. Komal Kothwal, Akriti Sharma, Ramandeep Kour stood first, second and third respectively. The adjudicators were Prof (Dr) Raj Singh, Prof Anju Bala and Prof Baljinder Kour. Prof Ajeet Angral, Principal of the college was chief guest on the occasion, who awarded the winners. The programme was coordinated by Prof Ashu Jolly, NSS Programme Coordinator of the college.
Government Degree College Budhal observed Human Rights Day by organizing a symposium on “Human Rights”. Six students participated in the symposium. Liaqat Ali bagged first position, while as second and third positions were claimed by Arshad-e-Azam and Tehseen Kouser respectively. In the IInd phase Prof Mohammad Aslam, HoD Political Science delivered special lecture. Dr Mohammad Sajir and Prof Manzoor Ali also spoke on the topic. Prof Amandeep, Prof Imtiaz Hussain Shah and Prof. Yasir Butt acted as jury members. Prof Ramneek Kour presented formal vote of thanks. Principal of the College Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina was also present.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College for Women, Kathua observed Human Rights Day by organizing a seminar on the topic “Human Rights in India, Theory and Practice”, in which 10 volunteers took part. Principal of the college Dr Janak Singh was the chief guest. Radhika Sharma, Sonia Sharma and Prakriti Singh emerged winner and were awarded with certificates and prizes. Prof Ravi, Prof Rakesh Singh and Prof Sonam acted as jury members.
The Literary Club of Dogra College of Education organised an Inter-section Symposium on “Human Rights and Future Generations” to observe World Human Rights Day. Sixteen students from the four sections of the College participated. The welcome address was presented by Kavita Yadav, Head of the student council of the college. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust was the chief guest while Prof BD Damral, Director (Academics), Dogra Educational Trust presided over the function. Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal of the College was also present. The members of the jury were Poonam Gupta, Indu Puri and Vintee Pathiyal, senior Lecturers of the College. In the Symposium, Shalini Sharma from Section D, Reetu Bala from Section B and Ankush Kumar from section C were declared winners. However the consolation prize was shared by Samita from Section D and Shabnam Choudhary from Section B. All the winners were accordingly awarded with the prizes and mementoes.
Bhartiya College of Education Udhampur organized a seminar on “Human Rights and Women” to mark World Human Rights Day. On the occasion, Kalpana Revo, Additional District and Sessions Judge Udhampur was chief guest, while Retainer Lawyers Vijay Luxmi and Shallu Khajuria and Chairperson of the college Madhu Khajuria was also present. Students from Bhaskar Degree College and Bhartiya College of Education participated in the seminar.
Government Post Graduate College Rajouri organized a symposium on “Human Rights” to mark World Human Rights Day, in which eight students participated. Dr Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the college along with Amit Bhalla, Lecturer in Political Science expressed their views on human rights. In the symposium, Aamir Amin of BA Part 3rd, Sushant Sharma and Ahsan Ul Haq both students of B.Sc Part 2nd emerged winners and were awarded with mementoes among them.
National Human Rights (Social Justice Council) during a press conference appealed to Government of India and State Administration to protect Rights of every citizen of India on priority basis as the matter of concerned. The conference was attended by MI Zargar, Executive Director, Girish Raizada, general secretary, Manik Magotra, secretary, Raman Singh, CIO, Manoj Gupta, Chief Co-ordinator, Rajesh Bakshi, chief organizer and other members of the organization.
To observe “World Human Rights Day”, District Information Centre (DIC), Udhampur organized a symposium on the topic, “Poverty and Human Rights” in collaboration with Kalra College of Education, Udhampur. Principal of the host College, Ranjna Sharma was the chief guest.  As many as 12 students of the college participated in the symposium and expressed their views. Arun Sharma was adjudged best speaker in the symposium while Mohammad Majnu and Akanksha bagged second and third positions respectively.  Manmohan, Divya Verma and Rabia Mahajan were awarded with consolation prizes.  Later, the chief guest awarded winners with prizes and certificates. Rashmi, B Gupta and Sakshi Sharma acted as judges.
