JAMMU, May 8: To give respect to the founder of Red Cross Movement Jean Henry Dunant, World Red Cross Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal across the State.
Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu celebrated World Red Cross Day at Red Cross Bhawan Kachi Chawni Jammu. The function started with a flag hoisting ceremony by chief guest Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner-cum-Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region followed by Red Cross pledge and prayer by the gathering led by students of Jain Higher Secondary School, Carmel Convent, Government Higher Secondary School Jourian and Surinsar besides Red Cross volunteers.
Floral Tributes were also paid by Sanjeev Verma, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Director Social Welfare, Mr. JK Sudan Joint Director School Education, Mrs. Parikar Additional Director Health Services, Ajay Sallon, District Social Welfare Officer, Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region and many others. Cultural items were presented by children of NGO Aaradhna-A Ray of Hope, students of Carmel Convent School, Kunjwani, student Govt. H.S.S. Saruinsar and campers of GHSS Jourian.
A function by the district administration Udhampur marked the celebration of World Red Cross day with theme “What do you love about Red Cross” in which Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr Gurvinderjeet Singh was the chief guest. Earlier, Secretary District Red Cross Society, Dr VP Sharma gave a detailed account of various activities conducted by the society. During the programme, students from different educational institutions threw light on the philanthropic services of the Red Cross Society.
The Day was celebrated at district headquarters Kishtwar to pay tribute to Jean Henry Dunant, wherein District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana, was the chief guest. Meanwhile, to mark the birth anniversary of Jean Henry Dunant, Red Cross Day was celebrated across the schools of district wherein debate, parade, pledge, cultural programmes on the theme “What Do You Love About Red Cross” were organized.
World Red Cross Day was observed at Girls Higher Secondary School, Reasi in which ZEPO Kuldeep Khajuria hoisted flag of Red Cross Society. A symposium was also organized in which students of various Government and private schools participated and were presented awards.
World Red Cross day was observed today in Poonch. A rally and a symposium were organized by District Administration Poonch at Krishan Chander Park to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sir J. Henry Dunant. Chairman Red Cross Society DDC Rahul Yadav, Organizing Secretary CEO Vijay Kumar Bhagat, DySP DAR Sheezan, Principal Sheesh Mahal, Members of District Red Cross Society Poonch and many others were present on the occasion. Later, prizes were distributed to winners of symposium.
World Red Cross Day on the theme “What Do You Love About Red Cross” was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal at district headquarters Doda. DDC Doda, who is also the Chairman of District Red Cross Society Dr Sagar D Doifode was the chief guest on the occasion. A large number of students representing various schools of the district participated in the debate, painting, paper reading competition and cultural program. DDC Doda hoisted Red Cross flag and flagged off a rally. Eye camp was organized at District Hospital Doda by Social Worker Forum in collaboration with Red Cross Society Doda. A blood donation camp was also organized where DDC himself donated blood. Amir Suhail, a student of Faridia Model HSS Doda was declared as winner in debate, whereas in Painting, Muskan of GHSS and in paper reading Sabit Jamil of CVP Hss were declared winner. SSP Doda, CMO Doda, CEO Doda, Additional SP Doda, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Principal BHSS Doda and many others were present on the occasion.
On the occasion of “World Red Cross Day” Indian Army organized awareness lectures at Government High School, Acchad, YC, Thanamandi, Sabra Gali, Government Middle School, Baisali and Youth Centre, Palma in Poonch and Rajouri districts. The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness about the fundamental principles of the Red Cross Society. The event was conducted by Army officials. During the lectures, students were informed about the history of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School celebrated World Red Cross Day on the theme “What do you love about Red Cross”. The chief guest of the day was Neeraj Anand, Executive Member, Indian Red Cross, Jammu. The students were taught about the importance of understanding human sufferings and humanitarian activities through a skit on “Importance of Blood Donation”. The speeches by Muskaan and Bhavika of IX standard highlighted the aim, mission and seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross Society. The beautiful song and dance performances apt on the theme of the day won every heart present. In the end, School Principal Maria Swati presented vote of thanks.
To commemorate International Red Cross Day, a function was organized at Government High School Seri Panditan, Zone Bhalwal, in which students, teachers and village members participated. Neelan Gupta, Headmaster of the institution was the chief guest on the occasion. The main speaker of the programme was Karuna Bajaj, Master A symposium competition was also organized. Later, prizes were given to the winners.
On the occasion of Red Cross Day, a special pledge and prayer assembly was organized in GMC Kharoti. The programme started with the address of the Incharge of the school Sat Paul Puri. On the occasion, the students were seen busy in writing slogans and preparing pictorial charts depicting people helping others in case of an emergency. Small kids of the school were acquainted with the knowledge of Red Cross Society and its objectives. Teachers who addressed the students included Shashi Bala, Dharm Paul Sharma, Kasturi Lal Sharma and Ravi Kumar Sharma.
A special assembly on Red Cross Day was conducted in Sunrise Public School. A student of class 3rd Anamya spoke about the importance of the day. Two teachers Shivani Sharma and Ansh Gupta explained the theme of Red Cross “everywhere For Everyone”. Principal Suchi Gupta highlighted the importance of fundamental principles like humanity, impartiality, independence, volunteer service, unity and universality.
Srinagar Red Cross Committee in association with the district administration organized a programme to celebrate the World Red Cross Day. The main aim of the programme organized at GHSS Amira Kadal was to encourage and recognize volunteers partaking in humanitarian activities in the district. Students present on the occasion spoke on the importance of humanitarian movements and their interest in being a part of the humanitarian network in the district. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion. ADC Srinagar KK Sidha, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar, District Social Welfare Officer Srinagar among other officers were also present on the occasion.
District Red Cross Committee Kupwara organized a programme to celebrate World Red Cross Day. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Farooq Ahmed Baba was the chief guest on the occasion, while Chief Education Officer Kupwara Mohammad Shafi War, students of various educational institutions and other officials also participated in the programme.
To commemorate World Red Cross Day, a function was held at Kargil. Deputy Commissioner and CEO Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary, who is also the Chairman of the District Red Cross Committee Kargil was the chief guest on the occasion. Additional Senior Superintendent of Police and Vice President District Red Cross Committee Kargil Khalid Amin was guest of honour. CMO Kargil Dr Ibrahim Khan, CEO Kargil Nazir Ahmed Want, district officers besides students from different educational institutes and prominent citizens also participated in the programme. Earlier, a rally was organized in which students from girls as well as boys Higher Secondary School Kargil, participated.
