JAMMU, Feb 22: “World Thinking Day” was celebrated today at State Headquarters, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides located at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
This year’s Thinking Day theme was “Stand together for Peace”. It is also a day of introspection and psychoanalysis i.e. how far we have been able to achieve our aims & objectives and what more we have to do to strengthen this movement in the State.
Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports (YSS), was the chief guest on the occasion while I D Soni, Ex- State Commissioner (S) of J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides, presided over the function.
After investiture ceremony and lighting of the traditional lamp, Wing Commander M M Joshi, in his welcome address, threw light on the laudable performance of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides and on the importance of the World Thinking Day.
In his address, the chief guest felt highly impressed that this movement is trying to cultivate basic values such as commitment, conviction, character, courtesy and cheerfulness in the young Scouts & Guides which is the need of the hour. He also assured his full support to spread and expand this excellent material in all schools.
I D Soni, speaking on the occasion, intimates the chief guest about the difficulties being faced by the movement and impressed upon him to help it grow in a big way through open handed support from his end.
Other dignitaries also spoke and impressed upon all to develop leadership qualities in young Scouts/Guides so that they may be able to contribute for the well-being of the country by creating an atmosphere of peace, harmony, order and spirit of service.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Nasreen Khan (Administrator, J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides).
Utam Singh (Assistant Director YSS), Sukhdav Raj Sharma (District YSS, Jammu), Prabha Jain, M M Joshi, Usha Chunni, H L Dogra, M Yaseen Sheikh, R C Vaid, M B Shawal, Ranjana Sharma, Bimla Handoo, Neelam Gupta, Kanchan Sharma, Krishna, Veena Vaid, Deepiksha, Harvinder Kour, Manjeet Kour, M M Sharma, K L Shamra, Harcharan Singh, Jyoti Verma, Rita Sharma and Ashok Sharma were the guests on the occasion.
