This has reference to the news item ‘Govt makes written test mandatory for non-gazetted posts’. The initiative taken by the Government to conduct written test for all non-gazetted posts is a welcome step. If these tests are conducted in a transparent manner, there are chances that recruitment for various posts will be fair.
It is a universal truth that selection made on interviews were always suspected on grounds of nepotism and favouritism.
Besides, candidates who had secured fake certificates with high percentages would often figure in the merit list, and would get selected, at the cost of those who had genuine but low percentage certificates. The Government of India has also done away with interview process for recruitment of low cadre posts.
The recruitment made on written tests will not invite criticism from those who do not get selected. It is indeed a good step, and should be introduced at the earliest.
