NEW DELHI : Mobile subscriber seeking portability of the number will now have to give an undertaking to the service provider that he is the genuine owner of the number. In case the undertaking given by the subscriber turns out to be false, the concerned number will be disconnected, as per the directions given by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to the service providers.
These directions follow the regulator receiving disputes regarding ownership of the number after its porting from one service provider to the other. The regulator has already done a wide number of consultations on the issue. (AGENCIES)
