JAMMU, Aug 12: A deputation of Workers Welfare Association (WWA), Irrigation Department, today met Executive Engineer and took up their demands regarding payment of pending salaries of the need based as well as daily wagers of the department.
The deputation, which was headed by president of the association, Tariq Shah apprised the XEn that the need based and daily wage workers of the department are without salary for last two-three years and their families are on the verge of starvation.
The XEn assured the deputation that their due salaries will be paid as early as possible and definitely before the coming festival of Rakshabandhan.
The deputation also raised the issue of making such need based workers as permanent employees and including these need based workers and casual labours in 2702 Wages head.
