JAMMU, Mar 20: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here today arrested an Executive Engineer along with an Accounts Officer of SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV) while accepting a bribe of Rs. 45,000.
The Executive Engineer involved in corrupt practice was identified as Rajinder Kumar while Mohd Farooq Ahmad was the Accounts Officer involved.
A handout of ACB stated that they received a complaint regarding alleged demand of bribe by the duo for release of long pending bills for some construction work.
The complainant claimed that he received payment of Rs. 29.97 lakh in February, 2020 and raised bills worth Rs. 15 lakh after completion of some more work and the accused officials withheld the payment saying that their share of 2 per cent and 1.5 per cent respectively in earlier payment was given to them. So they demanded Rs 45,000 to release the new bill.
On receiving the complaint, the ACB registered an FIR against the accused public servants and subsequently laid a trap in which the duo were caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 45,000.
Both were arrested and taken into custody and searches were conducted at their residences Further investigation into the case is going on.
