JAMMU, July 21: Vigilance Organization booked Raman Uppal, presently posted as Executive Engineer LAWDA, Srinagar, for misappropriating public money as then AEE Urban Local Bodies Udhampur and also raided his residence at Shastri Nagar Jammu.
During search process, huge quantity of Gold amounting to Rs 25 lakh (approx), cash Rs 8.5 lakh and other relevant documents were recovered and seized. Some record was also seized from his earlier office at Udhampur by another team of Vigilance Organization. Detailed and in-depth scrutiny of the seized record will be carried out during further course of investigation by sleuths of Vigilance Organization
A case FIR number 22/2018 P/S VOJ, under section 5(1) (c), 5 (1) (d) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt. 2006, was registered against him yesterday on the basis of complaint lodged before the State Vigilance Commission.
As per the complaint, Raman Uppal, during his tenure as AEE in Local Bodies, Udhampur in 2010, had misappropriated Rs 50 lakh Government money, which allotted to him by Municipal Committee Katra as advance for execution of development works in Sub-Division Katra. On ground no work was carried out while as per the report of Director Urban Local Bodies, the money was still lying with him. It is also alleged that an amount of Rs 10 lakh, allotted to him by the Municipal Council Udhampur, has also been misappropriated.
Meanwhile, Vigilance Organization Jammu today produced Challan against 10 officers and officials of Rural Development Department, who are accused of misappropriating funds in execution of various developmental works in block Marwah, District Kishtwar, under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes during the year 2012-13.
The challan in case FIR number 32/2014 P/S VOJ U/S 5(1) (c) (d) r/w section 5(2) PC Act 2006 and section 120-B/RPC, was presented in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Doda, against Romesh Kumar Sharma of Vasant Vihar, Talab Tillo Jammu (then X-En REW Kishtwar and now retired), Krishan Chand Sharma of Slathia Street, Opp. Court Complex Udhampur (then BDO Marwah and now retired), Rama Kant Sharma of Sainik Colony Jammu (then AEE REW Marwah), Tariq Hussain Kichloo of Kichloo Mohalla, Kishtwar (then Tech Assistant RDD Block Marwah), Abdul Rashid Shah of Dugga, Kishtwar (then JE RDD, Block Marwah), Shagufta Riaz of Yourdoo Marwah, Kishtwar (then VLW RDD Block Marwah), Mohd Abass Lone of Yourdoo, Marwah Kishtwar (then Work Supervisor Block Marwah), Dilshad Ahmed of Astangam Marwah (then MPW block Marwah), Abdul Fatha Malik of Qaderna Marwah, Kishtwar (then VLW, RDD Block Marwah) and Gh Rasool Lone of Deharie, Marwah, Kishtwar (then VLW Block Marwah)
Next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for 30.08.2018.
