YAIKS delegation calls on RRC

JAMMU, Jan 28, : A delegation of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) led by it’s president and North India head GKPD, R. K Bhat, called on Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants, T. K Bhat here, today.
The delegation apprised him about the problems of migrants in general and Valley Posted Migrant Employees and non package employees in particular, and submitted a memorandum to him in this regard.
The delegation was comprising B. K. Bhat, senior vice- president, YAIKS, Sanjeev Koul its secretary (Org), Sanjay Ganjoo joint secretary and Rakesh Fotedar programme coordinator.
The delegation informed Commissioner about the hardships being faced by migrant employees in Valley due to lack of basic amenities. They said that the proper accommodation be allotted to all the migrant employees (package and non package) without further delay at the suitable locations, although some progress has been made in this regard recently with a free and fair allotment.
The delegation stressed him that the Vessu Colony be developed on the modern lines of township being the gate way of Kashmir, and the employees residing in Vessu itself and around the areas on rented accommodations should not be dislocated. They should be also adjusted in the same location so that the Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts may be adjusted at one location only.
It was also discussed in the meeting that there is already sanction and approval of 32 concrete Towers (512 Flats) to be build up on war footing basis at Vessu as the employees have already faced crucial 10 years of their staying in Valley. It was impressed on the Commissioner that historical and the religiously important Mattan, Sheikhpura, Baramulla and Kupwara areas be also developed for these employees, besides providing of proper schools, health care and shopping complexes at every colony.
The delegation expressed satisfaction over the Relief Commissioner’s personnel efforts for streamlining the functioning of the organization and making its working accountable and transparent although much more needs to be done in future also.
The YAIKS delegation assured full support and cooperation to the Commissioner in all his initiatives for betterment of the community. The RRC assured to take up the issue with Government.
