JAMMU, Sept 1: Intensifying its struggle to seek justice for displaced youth in particular and exiled Pandits in general, the Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) spearheading the ongoing movement of displaced people held a massive demonstration in front of Relief Organization here, today.
The demonstration was led by president, YAIKS , R K Bhat who took both Central and State Governments to task for betraying over four lakh displaced people from Valley especially the youth whose future has turned bleak due to Government’s apathy.
Terming the rehabilitation package for KPs a total failure and a cruel joke with displaced Pandits, Bhat demanded that the package needs to be restructured, redesigned and revived after a proper dialogue with YAIKS. He said it seems there is no political will for the permanent resettlement and comprehensive rehabilitation of the community.
The Government has sent feelers of rehabilitation package but never drawn any comprehensive plan in this regard which has generated a lot of resentment among the displaced people, he said. “We are holding temporary ration cards and leading an exiled life for last 29 years in our own country and for how long this will continue”, he added.
He said a package was announced way back in 2008 by then Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and five percent of the same was not implemented over these years. This has exposed the evil designs of the Government towards the displaced Pandits from Valley. To fight for its rights and for the rehabilitation of the community the YAIKS has taken a lead to take the present struggle to its logical conclusion, he added.
The protestors made an appeal to Governor to sanction more 3000 jobs in addition to already 6000 jobs announced in job package for left over candidates who could not take its benefit. He also sought intervention of Governor urging him to issue directives to Relief Organization and SSRB not to reserve posts in migrant quota for different categories as there is no such category among KPs.
He said near 25000 migrant employees retired over these years but no migrant youth was absorbed in their place.
Later Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, M L Raina assured all possible help to left over candidates. He also handed over a written document to YAIKS in which he has recommended adjustment of unemployed youth to Governor, Advisor and Divisional Commissioner.
Kuldeep Pandita of Thinkers Forum, B K Bhat, Sunil Koul, Manoj Handoo, Ajay Safaya, Sanjay Ganjoo and others also addressed the protestors.
