JAMMU, Apr 19: The members of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) today welcomed the Government’s decision of scrapping and completely abolishment of filling of M-Form by Displaced Kashmiri voters.
Addressing a press conference here today, RK Bhat, Chief, YAIKS said that scrapping and filling the M-forms, ahead of the Parliamentary and Assembly elections in the JK UT is a welcome step taken by the Government.
“The M-form process was the biggest hurdle for the Displaced Kashmiri pandits and also was a reason behind the low turnout in the polls,” he said.
He said, “It is right time for the community to prove our existence as our vote is always decisive and will decide the fate of the fraying candidates. Our participation in the election process and casting our vote is the victory of democracy and the defeat of the separatist forces.”
Bhat strongly advocated that the GoI may come up with a mechanism that the election in the community be held for the nomination of two Assembly seats reserved for Kashmir migrants. So that grass-roots leadership will emerge with a democratic process among the community, who have always become the tools of self styled leadership and vested interests.
The YAIKS leader further called on all political parties to make commitment in their manifestoes on the return and rehabilitation of pandits and to provide space for them in state and central legislatures.
Among others who were present during the conference included Sanjay Ganjoo, D N Sadhu, B L Dhar, Sanjay Raina, Kamal Tak and Suresh Bhat.
