JAMMU, Aug 6: Eminent litterateur of Dogri language Yashpaul Nirmal will get prestigious ‘Guru Ratan Samman’ for the year 2023 by Brij Lok Kala Sahitya Evm Sanskriti Akademi, Agra.
Mukesh Kumar Rishi Verma, president of the Akademi shared this information with reporters and informed that a programme in this regard will be organized in September 2023 at Agra.
Yashpaul Nirmal was born on April 15, 1977 in Garhi Bishna village of Jourian in Jammu. He has knowledge of Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and English languages and he is doing translation work in many languages.
Nirmal started writing in the year 1993 and translation in 1994 by translating Shrimad Bhagawat Purana in Dogri.
So far, more than 65 of his books have been published on various subjects in Hindi, Dogri and English languages. For his contribution to the field of literature he has received many honours and awards which include Junior Fellowship by CCRT, New Delhi and National Translation Award by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi for the year 2014 on the play Mian Deedo and Siya Ram Smriti Puruskar by ‘Ao Khushiyan Bhantein Manch’ on his book ‘1008 Dogri Haiku’.
