Pilgrimage to the holy cave of Shri Amarntahji begins today from Yatri Nivas, Canal Road, Jammu, and is expected to arrive at the base camp in Nunwan, Baltal in the evening. From tomorrow the 25th of June, the pilgrimage to the shrine begins according to official schedule. In a last minute review, the Governor who is also the Chairman of SASB, called a meeting of the officials at Raj Bhavan in Jammu to receive the reports from them about the preparations being in place. According to official circles 3.5 lakh pilgrims are expected to visit the holy shrine this year and there are a big number of the Sadhus among the pilgrims as usual. The Shrine Board authorities are fully convinced that all necessary preparations of seeing the yatri go smoothly are in place. About a hundred companies of security forces besides local police have been deployed from Lakhanpur up to the base camps in Nunwan and Baltal to ensure the security of the pilgrims. Arrangement of free langars is also in place. The weather is not inclement though rains at these heights are a regular feature. Emergency medical aid is also available for the pilgrims. Thus it is hoped that the pilgrimage will be conducted smoothly without any mishap.
