KATRA, May 27: Follo-wing massive fire near Himkoti at Trikuta Hills this evening, pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine was suspended on the new battery car track even as the devotees were allowed to use the traditional path.
The fire along with smoke at Trikuta Hills were first spotted around 7 pm and soon the blazes engulfed a large area near Himkoti, thus forcing the authorities to suspend the yatra on new battery car track from 8 pm onwards.
Even as the fire was controlled to some extent due to hectic efforts, the blazes spread again as the fire brigade tenders could not reach the site, said SSP Reasi, Tahir Sajad Bhat and added that efforts were still on to control the blazes and avoid losses.
Keeping in view the situation, the yatra is still suspended on the new battery car track but the pilgrims are being allowed to move on the traditional path, the SSP further informed.
