Yatra stopped after 46,200 leave Katra

JAMMU, June 10: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) authorities tonight suspended yatra to holy cave shrine at 8.30 pm after 46,200 pilgrims had left Katra, the base camp, for the Bhawan.
Official sources said the yatra was suspended in view of heavy rush of pilgrims as 46,200 yatris had left for the Bhawan. Around 5,000 pilgrims were stranded at the base camp when the yatra was stopped.
However, the Shrine Board authorities were likely to resume yatra around 4 am tomorrow when the rush would ease at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan and pilgrims will start returning to the base camp.
While 46,200 pilgrims had left for the Bhawan after obtaining registration from Katra, around 2000 other yatris might also have left for the cave shrine having on-line registration.
Mata Vaishno Devi shrine is witnessing heavy rush these days in view of vacations all over the country.
