JAMMU, June 21: Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) bagged 3rd rank in the Swayam NPTEL local chapters of J&K among the top eight colleges of J&K and ranked 1st among the private institutions of J&K.
National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a project of MHRD initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati, and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore from 2003, to provide quality education from the IITs. The main goal is to create web and video courses in all major branches of engineering and physical sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and management courses at the postgraduate level.
In J&K, Swayam NPTEL courses are offered by the University of Jammu for the students of 5th and 6th semesters with a course duration of up to 12 weeks along with 3 credits. IIT Chennai organizes and issues the ranking of Swayam NPTEL local chapters.
NPTEL courses include the registrations twice a year, one from January to June and the other from July to December. YCET bagged 3rd rank for the former one. The Swayam NPTEL course is categorized into two segments, one among which is assignments and the other is exams. To be certified, students are required to attain a minimum of 40 percent each in assignments and exams.
