JAMMU, Jan 24: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) under IIC Cell organized a webinar by Prof. Abhishek Arya, Associate Professor Civil Engineering Department, Jodhpur Institute of Engineering and Technology on ‘Creation of Palm Island.’
The session began with welcome address by Neeraj Pandita, HoD Mechanical Engineering.
Then Prof. Abhishek Arya discussed ‘Palm Island’ as the best example of innovation that technocrats have created by their dedicated efforts.
He said that the Palm Islands are three artificial islands-Palm Jumeirah, Deira Island and Palm Jebel Ali on the coast of Dubai and is a major tourist destination within Dubai.
Prof. Arya said that creation of the islands started in 2001 and Palm Jumeirah is the site of numerous private residences and hotels.
“From the air, the archipelago resembles a stylized palm tree within a circle. Palm Jebel Ali is a similar archipelago with a larger palm tree, a larger crescent around it and space between the crescent and the tree to dredge island boardwalks that circle the ‘fronds’ of the palm,” he maintained.
The students were briefed about innovation technique adopted by engineers and technocrats who made this dream come true.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by K.R Sharma, senior faculty member of Mechanical Department.
