JAMMU, Feb 21: The 8th semester students of I.T Engineering, YCET won best paper award in Computer Science category in two-day national conference held at Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu.
Four students Mukul Gupta, Roshika Tondan, Heena Sharma and Preksha Sharma worked under the guidance of HoD Computer and I.T engineering, Dinesh Gupta and presented a paper titled “Free Space Optical Communication”.
The paper was about free space optical (FSO) communication and its connectivity with central cellular network. A total of 70 papers were submitted for the conference out of which 48 papers were selected and among all the participants students of YCET were presented the best paper award in computer science. Dr. Arvind Dewangan, Director YCET, Dr. Sandeep Malik, Dean YCET and B.R. Verma, Chief co-ordinator YCET lauded the students and their guide and also gave them their best wishes.
Also, Department of Applied Sciences organized an ‘Essay Writing Competition’ for the students of Second semester on the occasion of International Mother Language Day. The Topic of the competition was “The Cultural Context of Analysis: Promoting linguistic and Cultural Diversity in India.”
The competition was aimed to make the student understand the fact that cultural diversity creates uniqueness and enriches a country’s history and social set ups with creativity in art and architectural aspects arising from such diversity.
The main idea behind organizing the competition was to encourage creativity& leadership skills. Also, this will help the budding technocrats to bring out the ability to think quickly, write persuasively & present well connected ideas. About 37 students from different branches of Second semester participated in this competition.
The programme was witnessed by Dr. Arvind Dewangan; Director YCET, Dr. Sandeep Malik, Dean Academics, B.R Verma; Chief Coordinator, R.S Dalpatia and Deputy Registrar YCET. Dr. Arvind lauded Head of the Department Applied Sciences Rakesh Verma and faculty members for taking such an initiative.
