Yediyurappa gives nod for Rs 480-crore Goodrich Aerospace unit

BENGALURU, Aug 3: Karnataka Chief Minister B SYediyurappa has given approval to US-based Goodrich AerospaceService Pvt Ltd to set up a manufacturing unit with aninvestment of Rs 480 crore, state industries department saidSaturday.The project would generate 4,000 jobs and solidifythe state’s position in the aerospace industry, it said.The approval is to establish a unit formanufacturingaircraft evacuation systems, lighting systems,cargo systems,seating systems and electrical power systems,an official press release said here.

The state government has approved allotmentof over25 acres at aerospace SEZ in hi-tech, defence and aerospacepark for the project along with the supply of 400 KVA of powerfrom Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (BESCOM).Also, 3 lakh LPD (litres per day) of water fromKarnataka IndustrialArea Development Board (KIADB) andincentives and concessionsas per the aerospace policy of thestate would be provided, among others, the release said.According to the industries department, the plannedexpansion atDevanahalli, Bangalore rural district, offers akey advantageof positioning Karnataka on the global networkand further enhance the state’s ecosystem in aerospace anddefence sector.Additionally, this expansion would provideemployment for another 4,000 people and benefit the aerospacecommunity.

Goodrich Aerospace Service Pvt Ltd, a multinationalcompany, has been engaged in assembling/manufacturing aircraftevacuation systems, lighting systems, cargo systems, seatingsystems and electrical power systems since 1996 in India.It has three establishments in three locations atWhitefield, Bengaluru, providing employment to over 3,000people.
