JAMMU, Aug 25: Youth National Conference (YNC) has expressed serious concern over very slow pace of work on many development projects in Jammu region.
A meeting of YNC office bearers from several districts of Jammu region was held at party office Jammu under the leadership of provincial president YNC, Ajaz Jan ( Ex-MLA). The party workers raised several burning issues related to the common masses which especially included the roads condition, water and power as well as defunct lying irrigation canals. Workers stated that in the rural belts of Jammu, power crisis is deepening with unscheduled curtailment increasing with increase in temperature which is putting lives of people in severe hardship.
Jan appealed to the J&K UT Government to form a review commission to get exact details of development works and projects on field and said that a number of works are hanging in air with details being shown in papers only and not exist on the ground.
He said that road connectivity in the areas especially in rural pockets is in worst condition with concerned departments failing to meet the expectations of masses.
Citing examples, Jan said that PMGSY started work on a road from Moughla to Khawas in Rajouri and even after almost a decade, only one kilometer of road is blacktopped with Katora Patti Nallah bridge is yet to be constructed and thousands of people have to risk their lives and to cross the flooded river.
He added that a project for Kandi to Khawas road in Rajouri was sanctioned under CSR after which tall claims were made that Khawas road will be upgraded like a model road but present condition of road is in front of everyone and it has become a monument of dilapidated roads in J&K.
” Gambhir Mughlan to Patrara road in Rajouri, Mendhar to Mankote road in Poonch, Rajouri to Surankote road connecting Rajouri and Poonch, Khandli to Peeri road in Rajouri and Batote to Chakwa road and Assar to Chill Road of Ramban district, Melan to Trigam road and Kuleed to Hullar Junjala roads of Doda district are some worst examples of neglect,” Jan maintained.
