JAMMU, Dec 21: Bharatiya Yog Sansthan (BYS) celebrated International Meditation Day at Yog Ashram Gole Gujral here, today. More than one hundred Sadhaks performed collective Yog Sadhna and mediated for more than one hour and forty five minutes.
Organisers informed that the UN General Assembly’s recognition of World Meditation Day is a bold acknowledgment of meditation’s capacity to address rising stress, violence, and societal disconnection.
To raise awareness about meditation and its benefits, the General Assembly proclaimed 21 December as World Meditation Day, recalling the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.
This year 2024, the World Meditation Day Theme is “Inner Peace, Global Harmony!”. A global call to recognize the day by focusing on promoting mindfulness, peace, and health. It was shared with other sadhaks that beyond individual benefits, meditation fosters empathy, collaboration, and a sense of shared purpose, contributing to collective well-being. Celebrated for its universality, meditation is practiced across all regions of the world by people of all ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles.
According to WHO, meditation can be a powerful self-care tool to support treatment and enhance overall well-being, particularly in managing symptoms of anxiety. Incorporating mindfulness meditation into the daily routine, even for just a few minutes, can help one to achieve a sense of calm and focus.
