* Punishment awarded in 42.85% of trap cases

LUCKNOW, Jan 8: The impact of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s policy of zero tolerance on crime and corruption is seen by the action taken against the corrupt PCS officers from Lucknow to the district level officers and employees.
Under the policy of zero tolerance on crime and corruption, instructions have been given to conduct an investigation with SIT (Special Investigation Team) of EOW (Economic Offence Wing) in Muradnagar incident, where 25 persons lost their lives in a crematorium’s roof collapse incident last day.
In the past three years, the Yogi Government has not only taken action against more than 21 hundred officers and employees, but has also sent them behind bars.
In the state, from 2017 to 2019, the prosecution department has taken action against the officers and employees in 1648 corruption cases. Punishment was also awarded in 42.85 per cent of trap cases. In early 2017, 578 suits were pending. While in 2017, 38 were caught in the red-handed bribe, 14 in non-trap and five other officers and employees were arrested.
As the same, in the year 2018, 130 officers and employees were arrested red handedly while taking bribes. 390 were caught in non-trap. In 2019, 835 officers were arrested red-handedly and 241 officers and employees arrested in non-traps. In 2019, 26.47 per cent officers and employees have been punished for taking bribes, caught in reap and 25 per cent on non-traps.
The Government has taken stringent punitive action against 50 PCS officers and small punitive action against 44 PCS officers since April 1, 2017. Action has also been taken against 480 police personnel in the last two years; 2019 and 2020 on complaints of corruption, in which 45 were prosecuted and three were dismissed. Apart from this, 68 police personnel were also punished with the severe reprimand.
Action has also been taken against 429 police personnel on misbehavior with people in the last two years. 14 cases have been registered and two police personnel have been dismissed. Apart from this, 106 police personnel were punished with severe reprimand.
