KATHUA, June 28: The dead bodies of young couple were found lying in the forest in remote area of Banodh village, under Rajbagh police jurisdiction in district Kathua today.
The deceased have been identified as Jagdish Singh, son of Punjab Singh and Pushpa Devi, wife of Kartar Singh of the same area. Some locals noticed the bodies lying in the nearby forest and informed respective families.
Later, a large number of villagers gathered there. The matter was reported to police. A police party from Rajbagh Thana rushed to the spot. Two empty packets of poison, used for killing rats was also found nearby. Both were holding hands and believed to have died after writhing in pain.
The police removed the bodies to Kathua hospital for postmortem. After conducting legal formalities and autopsy, the bodies will be handed over to the respective families tomorrow.
It was said that both had love affair. Even, Jagdish (deceased) was key person to settle the marriage of Pushpa with Kartar Singh. They continued to meet secretly even after the marriage of Pushpa. The police, however, registered a case and started investigation into the matter.
