JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, July 28: A young girl died of COVID-19 in Billawar tehsil of Kathua while 60 persons tested positive for the virus in Jammu region, 100 in Kashmir division and five in Ladakh.
A 22-year-old girl hailing from village Dhar Jankar in Basohli tehsil of Kathua district died of COVID-19 at PGI Chandigarh taking death toll in Jammu region to 2140 and Kathua district to 151.
Among 60 cases in Jammu region, 14 were reported from Reasi and all of them were travelers who tested positive on arrival at Katra Railway Station while eight fresh cases each were registered in Jammu and Doda, seven each in Ramban and Poonch, six each in Udhampur and Rajouri, two Kishtwar and one each in Samba and Kathua districts.
Forty three persons today recovered from the virus. Jammu region now has 434 active positive cases.
All five COVID positive cases in the Union Territory of Ladakh were reported in Leh district. Ladakh now has 70 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 100 fresh cases of COVID 19.
Those who tested positive include 42 from Srinagar, 20 from Baramulla, 12 from Budgam, 00 from Pulwama, 6 from Kupwara, 4 from Anantnag, 1 from Bandipora, 13 from Ganderbal, 1 from Kulgam and 1 from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 71,307 positive cases including 832 deaths and 70,130 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,576 including 282 deaths and 23,210 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,868 including 22,608 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Budgam, 15,156 including 14,914 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,051 including 165 deaths and 13,847 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,314 including 16,067 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,465 cases including 9,338 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,878 including 9,755 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,236 including 11,111 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,583 including 5,513 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 199,434 including 196,493 recoveries and 2,236 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,139 including 705 from Kashmir division. With 144 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 315,511, which is 98.28 percent of the total cases.
