UDHAMPUR, July 11: In a tragic incident, a young girl accidently drowned in underground water tank at her house in village Chanunta in Ramnagar while a woman died after she fell from a hillock in Dudu.
According to the police reports, Lakshmi Devi (17), daughter of Mohan Lal, resident of village Chanunta, was washing clothes at her home when she suddenly slipped and fell into nearby underground water tank.
Even as family member fished her out and rushed her to the nearest PHC , she was declared as brought dead.
On the request of family members of the deceased, postmortem was not conducted and Police handed over the body to them after panchnama and other legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a middle aged woman died after she fell from a hillock while cutting grass as fodder for domestic animals.
According to the police report, Vekelyia Devi (48) , wife of Belkhi Ram, resident of Seri in Dudu, slipped from a slope and fell into a gorge near her house. Locals rushed her to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Dudu where doctors declared her as brought dead.
Police after completion of all the formalities and postmortem, handed over the body to family members for the last rites.
