UDHAMPUR, Apr 5: Following death of a young housewife under mysterious circumstances, family members from parental side of the deceased alleged that she was being tortured by her husband and in-laws.
Reports said that the deceased, identified as Seema Devi (34), wife of Gadu Ram, resident of village Jofar in Ramnagar, was late last night brought in an unconscious condition to Sub-district Hospital Ramnagar where doctors declared her as brought dead.
Later, family members from parental side of the deceased approached Police station Ramnagar and leveled serious allegations against her husband.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Police Station Ramnagar initiated inquest proceedings in the case even as there were no injury marks on body of the deceased.
According to SHO Ramnagar, Inspector S D Singh, a case has been registered for further investigation while the body was handed over to the in-laws after postmortem.
