RAJOURI, Apr 29: A 25-year-old woman died in District Hospital, Rajouri due to alleged negligence of the doctors, after she was operated upon for delivery of a baby girl in the hospital last evening.
The guilty staff continued to play drama and not allowed the family members to meet the patient for long on the pretext that she was serious inside the theatre. She was given anaesthia before the surgery and could regained consciousness and later died on the operation table.
The deceased has been identified as Mehnaz Akhtar, wife of Tariq Hussain, resident of Galuta village in Harni area of Mendhar. She was brought to Rajouri hospital for routine check up. The previous doctor had given date of surgery as May 5 to the pregnant lady. As Dr Neeru was not there in the hospital due to posting recently, Dr Rakia Choudhary (Gyn) attended the patient at around 12.50 pm on Tuesday. After examination the doctor told her husband that she will be operated upon today and deposit the fee and also put signatures. Only husband and wife had come to the hospital for check up.
Javed, brother of Tariq Hussain told the Excelsior that Dr Rakia and another doctor of Anesthesia started operation and told after half an hour that she had delivered a baby girl and he can meet wife after she regains consciousness. The poor uneducated villager kept waiting outside the OT for long. The doctors were going inside and coming out and were apparently frightened. It appears that they were hiding some thing.
Some people of Mendhar area in the hospital inquired about the matter and doctors then told at around 9 pm that she will be referred to GMC Jammu. They also fitted oxygen mask on the mouth. One Sageer Ahmed of Dhar Galoon who was also with Tariq became suspicious and told that she had died and why doctors are asking to shift. Her balley had swollen. They raised hue and cry then another doctors examined and declared her dead. Then family members also arrived there at around 11 pm and they alleged that lady had been died during afternoon and doctors kept them in dark and later enacted drama to shift her to Jammu. The woman was removed to her home in the morning at around 7 am.
Incharge CMO Rajouri, Dr Anees when contacted said that he has ordered an inquiry in to the matter. He said Incharge Med Suptd Dr Zubaur Afzal has been directed to hold inquiry and submit report.
