KATHUA, Apr 25: One youth committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan at his residence in Village Dabi in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district when he was all alone at his home and parents had gone to attend a marriage ceremony.
He has been identified as Birender Kumar, 20, son of Girdhari Lal of village Dabi. After his parents returned they found his body hanging with the ceiling fan. They informed the police which took the body into its custody and shifted to DH Kathua where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The police kept the body in mortuary and after postmortem this morning it was handed over to family for last rites.
The Hiranagar Police has registered a case under Section 174 and started investigation.
However the cause of the extreme step taken by the youth was not known.
