JAMMU, June 8: Some Youth Congress workers, including Pradesh Youth Congress president (PYC) Pranav Shagotra, sustained minor injuries when Police resorted to mild lathi charge on party activists who were disrupting movement of trains here as mark of protest against killing of six farmers in Mandsaur area of Madhya Pradesh.
The protest was organized in connection with Rail Roko Andolan of the Youth Congress against alleged anti-farmers policies of the BJP Government at the Centre and at Madhya Pradesh.
Six farmers were killed and several injured in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district on Tuesday when police fired on protesters who were demanding better prices in the drought-ravaged region.

A members of Youth Congress activists, led by Pranav Shagotra, assembled at platform number 1 of Jammu Railway Station and staged a dharna there thus creating disturbance in the movement of trains. They were shouting slogans against Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan for allegedly committing atrocities on farmers.
After the protesting PYC activists refused to disperse, Police resorted to mild lathicharge in which some protesters sustained minor injuries.
Earlier addressing the activists, Pranav Shagotra alleged that Narendra Modi Government at the Centre and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had declared a war against farmers of the country. He said that to protect interests of big business lobbies, BJP Government was all out to suppress farmers who are demanding reasonable prices for their produce.
“The BJP came to power with the promise of welfare of farmers and poor. All that the farmers were demanding was help from the Government and in return they received bullets,” said Shagotra and regretted that instead of solving problems of the people BJP Governments were indulging in use oppressive means.
PYC president further pointed out that farmers, students, educated unemployed youth were on the war path because BJP Governments in different States have betrayed the people.
Those who took part in the protest, included Varinder Chib, Rajan Sharma, Charanjeet Singh, Ricky Dalotra, Jatinder Chib, Gagandeep Lucky, Hoshiar Chib, Rajeev Gupta, Sahil Sharma, Manjeet Singh Sarkaria, Sachin Gupta, Divyansh Jamwal, Ankit Sood, Ramneek Singh, Vijay Hiteshi, Gurpreet Singh, Ravi Kant, Anil Kumar, Mohd Rafi Malik, Sahil Singh Langeh, Varinder Pratap, Ashwant Singh Natty, Happy Randhawa, Vikrant Khajuria, Sanjeev Mathur and others.
