JAMMU, Nov 30: Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) today staged a protest against BJP MP, Pragya Thakur for her remarks on Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse.
Led by Uday Chib, State president PYC, the Youth Congress activists raised slogans against Pragya Thakur over her remark referring to Nathuram Godse as ‘Deshbhakt’ in the Lok Sabha. The Youth Congress raised slogans `Bapu Hum Sharminda Hai-Tera Qatil Zinda Hai’.
“We demand immediate expulsion of Pragya Thakur from Parliament for her statement,” Chib said.
The protesting Youth Congress activists demanded “Pragya Thakur must be expelled from Parliament and also from the party. The way she called Godse, the killer of Mahatma Gandhi, a patriot for the second time, her membership should be cancelled,”
“In the temple of democracy, the member is using unacceptable language for its saint and the leader of democracy is silent. We want the speaker of the Lok Sabha to expel that member and a sedition case should be filed against her,” Chib said, adding “This is our peaceful protest against Pragya Thakur. If they do not take any action against her, we will launch a nationwide protest in the coming days.”
Chib said that more than 70 countries across the Globe which are following the ideologies of the Mahatma Gandhi. He said it a matter of pride for every Indian. He mentioned that in 2017 Brisbane called the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. But it is unfortunate to say that our Parliamentarian is calling the killer of Mahatma Gandhi a patriot, he rued.
He asked BJP why it could not take any action against the Pragya Thakur. He further asked BJP leadership to clear it stand over the remarks of Pragya Thakur.
Youth Congress demanded that Prime Minister and BJP National president should take stern action against Thakur and expel her from the party immediately.
