KATRA, Apr 25: In a tragic incident, a motorcycle borne youth lost his life in a hit-and-run accident that occurred late last night on the Katra-Nangal road.
The deceased was identified as Guru Prasad Bali (31), son of Late Somraj Bali, a resident of village Aghar Ballian, District Reasi. His pillion rider, identified as Dheeraj Sharma, son of Mulkh Raj, resident of Billawar, District Kathua, also sustained critical injuries and he is undergoing treatment at Narayana Hospital.
The accident took place when motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AX-4284 collided with an unidentified four-wheeler. The impact caused both the rider and pillion to fall onto the road. The unidentified vehicle fled the scene after the collision.
Both victims were rushed by some locals to Narayana Hospital where doctors declared Guru Prasad Bali as brought dead. The pillion rider is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition was stated to be critical.
Police have registered a case in this connection at Katra Police Station and initiated an investigation.
