MENDHAR, Apr 6: A 21-year-old youth drowned in the river in Chhajla area of Mankote Tehsil of Mendhar Sub Division in Poonch district on Thursday.
A Police official said that the youth identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Hanif is a resident of Surankot in Poonch district. He was working as a labourer with the GREF authorities department and had gone to the river side after finishing his work in the afternoon and drowned in the river.
On receiving information of drowning, the local people and the police rescued the worker and shifted him to Sub-District Hospital Mendhar, where the doctors declared him dead. After postmortem, the body was handed over to the relatives. A case has been registered at Mendhar Police Station in this regard.
