UDHAMPUR, Aug 23: In a tragic incident, a youth drowned while taking bath in Tawi River near Baba Paidh Temple at Dabreh Udhampur.
Identity of the deceased was established as Sunil Kumar (21), son of Mohan Lal, resident of Lower Kawa Udhampur. He along with a friend was taking bath in the Tawi River near Baba Paidh Temple when he suddenly slipped into deep water and drowned.
Addl. SP Udhampur Anwar Ul Haq says, “We got information about this at around 5 pm. Immediately NDRF and Police reached here and started the rescue operation. NDRF conducted a search operation through its boat and divers but the person has not been traced. Search operation underway.”
The incident took place around 1700 hours and on getting information about the same, 
SHO Udhampur Raghuvir Singh rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. However, body of the deceased could not be traced till 8.30 pm after which the search operation was suspended due to darkness.
