Youth empowerment, employability high on NC agenda: Rana

NAGROTA, Dec 6: Envisioning a big push to employment generation in next six years, National Conference candidate from Nagrota Devender Singh Rana today said employability has been main plank of the policies pursued by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his ongoing first term.
“Youth aspirations have to be met by carving out adequate opportunities for both educated and skilled youngsters”, Mr Rana said while reaching out to the people, especially youth across the Constituency.
He was addressing a series of election meetings across the constituency.
Mr Rana referred to several initiatives taken by the Omar led Government in public and private sector besides devising schemes to enable enterprising youth to become entrepreneurs, saying these have helped achieving dividends in a big way. He made a mention of skill development programme-Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth-besides Himayat and Udaan initiatives taken up by roping the country’s private sector in a massive way to address to the unemployment problem.
“Like other parts of the State, the youth from Nagrota can also make a mark by taking up challenging positions in most competitive and lucrative sectors”, Mr Rana said, adding that National Conference led Government has devised a transparent mechanism in filling up vancancies in the Government departments. He also referred to special drives organised for the youth, one of them recently in Nagrota, and said opportunities keep knocking the doors of those ready to take up challenges with fortitude.
He said Nagrota’s growth as Nava Jammu has huge potential for employability, as new opportunities will come in the way of young people to take up income generating avocations. He urged the youth to benefit from various programmes tailored by the Government for their welfare and employment.
The National Conference candidate assured the youth that along side pursuing developmental agenda, a concerted effort would be made to create opportunities for their employment on a massive scale. He asked them to come forward in a big way and become part of transforming the destiny of their constituency. “Our youth are competent enough to take decisions about themselves and for the society as a whole”, he maintained.
Prominent among those present included Som Nath Kharjuria, Sarpanch Noor Mohd, Sarpanch Saraj Din, Chain Singh, Wakil Singh Numberdar, Ashok Kumar, Rattan Chand, Niamat Ali, Hussain Mohammad, Milkhi Ram, Sher Mohammad, Dhian Singh, Rampal Sharma, Mahinder Singh, Kailash Kumar, Niazam Din, Raj Mohammad, Abdul Karim, Sukh Ram Sharma, Surinder Pandit and others.
Meanwhile, Maulvi Shah Mohammed, an independent candidate from Nagrota Assembly Constituency on Saturday withdrew his candidature Devender Singh Rana.
Announcing his decision, amid big applause from his supporters, in presence of the National Conference candidate, Maulvi Shah Mohammed said he has taken the decision in the larger interest of the development of Nagrota, as he realised the huge contribution of Mr Rana in this regard over the years. He said Nagrota is on the path of progress and prosperity and with Mr Rana representing it, he was confident about its faster development.
Maulvi Shah Mohammed made a fervent appeal to the electors of Nagrota in general and his supporters in particular to vote and support Mr Devender Singh Rana for the larger interest of the constituency.
