RAJOURI, Aug 22: A youth was gunned down by his relative at a temporary shelter (Dhok) on the higher reaches of Pir Panjal in Kandi-Budhal area of district Rajouri late last evening.
A police spokesman said that the incident took place at around 7.45 pm at Bari Dhar Dhok of Kandi under Kotranka police jurisdiction on Thursday. Two families which had gone to the Dhok along with their cattle from Khadyanoo village in Kotranka, had some dispute over the Dhok. They had fresh clash over the ownership of this Dhok late last evening.
During clash in a fit of anger, 60-year-old Munir Hussain, son of Nawab Din of Khadyanoo village took out his licensed .12 bore gun and fired upon 22-year-old Mohd Mashook, son of Mohd Bashir of Khadyanoo village. The youth received bullet injury on his head and he died on the spot. Since there was no communication, one of the family members of the victim rushed to Kotranka police station on foot and reported the matter at around 11 pm in the night.
The Police party led by SHO Kotranka, Haji Bashir reached the spot during night and removed the body of the deceased at around 8 am in the morning. The search operation for the accused Munir Hussain was also launched and he was also traced and nabbed by the police party from Bari Dhar area of Pir Panjal. His gun was also seized. A case FIR No. 56/2014 under Sections 302 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act was registered against the accused. The body of the deceased was handed over to the parents after postmortem at Kotranka hospital by police.
