JAMMU, May 30: Army last night arrested a cross-border smuggler with two kilograms heroin valued at Rs 2 crores in the international market on the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber Gali area in Poonch sector.
Official sources said Army apprehended one Mohammad Kasim son of Mohammad Mushtaq Chowdhary, a resident of Hamirpur in Balakote block of Mendhar tehsil along with two packets of heroin, which he had received at the LoC Bhimber Gali belt of Poonch sector last night.

He had gone to the LoC under the garb of cattle grazer and received the consignment of heroin from a Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) citizen. However, the PoK man, who handed over consignment of narcotics to the resident of Bhimber Gali, managed to retreat to PoK.
“The alert troops of the Army challenged and apprehended the individual,” sources said.
They said this is a significant blow to the nefarious designs of Pakistan army in facilitating narco smuggling to fund terrorism in the State.
An FIR has been lodged with Poonch police while search of the area and further investigations are under progress, sources said.
