Youth held with grenades from TA rally venue

JAMMU, Mar 11: A youth was arrested with two grenades and a detonator in Surankote area of Poonch district today, where he had come for recruitment in the Territorial Army.
Rajinder Singh, 33, son of Krishan Lal, a resident of village Dalyote in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district, had come for a recruitment rally which was underway and was arrested during frisking outside the Army town gate in Surankote, SSP Poonch, Ramesh Kumar Angral told the Excelsior.
A C-90 grenade, a UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher) grenade and a detonator were recovered from his possession, Angral said.

An FIR was registered against the youth who is being questioned, Angral said, adding that police will ascertain from where he got the explosive material and what was his motive?
“We are open to all the angles and a thorough investigation is on in the case,” Angral said.
Sources said the Army personnel noticed the youth outside the Army camp around 10.15 am and stopped him for checking.
He was immediately arrested and handed over to police for further investigation, they said.
A case has been registered against the youth for further investigations.
