JAMMU, July 18: Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI), J&K Branch held a meeting under the chairmanship of its State Chairman Padamshree SP Varma, here today.
In the meeting S Venket Narayan, National Chairman YHAI New Delhi along with Rashmi Kant Chippa, National Chairman, Adventure Promotion committee of YHAI also participated.
National Chairman of YHAI S Venket Narayan said that J&K has great potential for adventure tourism. YHAI will do its efforts in the direction to promote adventure tourism in J&K. Already from last 6 years YHAI is successfully organising Heritage Trek Expedition in Udhampur district from Pancheri to Mantalai, in which thousands have participated. This 7 days event will be organised in the 1st week of September this year from Lander in Pancheri to Mantalai via Kati-Sanasar-Nathatop-Patnitop-Mantalai as National Trekking Expedition by National Office of YHAI.
He said that the base camp will be in Udhampur, adding that family camping will be organised at Gulmarg. This will attract thousands of participating YHAI members from all over India and abroad. Our efforts are to bring 30 lakh tourists to J&K by our programs, he added.
SP Varma said that a permanent facility for youth hostlers visiting Vaishno Devi shrine will be built near Katra. YHAI will celebrate its foundation day on August 26. Cultural exchange programme among member States will held.
Mr Chippa from Gujarat has offered to receive first batch from J&K in Gujarat. He said that J&K branch should start know your border programme with the support of BSF as it is being organised by Gujarat State Branch of YHAI.
